All Elvis did tonight was go 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored (and also recorded the last out of the game). He's now hitting .331 on the season with a .431 on-base percentage.
And all Neftali did tonight was throw 17 pitches (including a few that touched 100 mph on the gun), 14 of which were strikes. He had two strikeouts and recorded his league leading 11th save of the season.
The duo was an integral part of the Rangers sweeping the Angels (it was only two games, but a sweep is a sweep). The Rangers are now 4.5 games up on the defending AL West champs as those Angels continue a stretch where they play 21 of 27 games on the road.
It's still early, but damn, it feels good to be in first place. And with these two guys in the mix, staying in first place seems more and more likely.
So once again, thanks so much Braves. The Rangers really appreciate it.
Bring on the Orioles.
One more thing, Michael Young had a really nice game tonight and Vladimir Guerrero, what else can you say about him? I love watching him play and damn glad he's a Ranger this year.
